Some highlights of things coming to the area. You should probably go ahead and find your credit card.

#1- “Harmonies for Hope: John Prine and Other Love Songs” released its lineup and it’s crazy good.
The headliner is Sarah Jarosz and the show includes Amythyst Kiah, Nolan Taylor, John Inghram, Chance and Tessa McCoy, The Hill Country Devil, Holly Forbes, Mike Pushkin, Julie Adams, Rory Isaac, Bud Carroll, Bryan Roberts, and Chris Hudson.
Jarosz is the clear star here, but I’m partial to Kiah from Johnson City, Tennessee. Her new record produced by Butch Walker is partially inspired by “Old Gods in Appalachia.”
“Harmonies for Hope” is February 15 at the Clay Center.

#2 “Mountain Stage” announced a couple of new shows:
April 13- Culture Center in Charleston with Jeff Tweedy, JohnnySwim and Olivia Ellen Lloyd.
May 4- WVU Canady Arts Center, Morgantown with Erica Bibb, Moira Smiley and the Rhizome Quartet and Twisted Pine.
May 11- Culture Center in Charleston with Medium Build, Susan Werner, The Arcadian Wild and Maya de Vitri.
May 18 -Culture Center in Charleston with Dan Tyminski, Darrel Scott, I Draw Slow and Jacob Jollif Band.
This is a continuation of what’s been a good rollout of shows for “Mountain Stage” in 2025. The April 13 Jeff Tweedy (WILCO) show may sell pretty fast, but (for me, anyway) the best of the bunch is May 18.

#3 The Loud in Huntington has added three shows:
February 28- Abe Partridge.
March 16- The Dangerous Summer.
April 11- Nolan Taylor.

#4 The Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy is coming to Hale Street Center in Charleston February 28 and March 1.
This is a spooky/eerie kind of evening with Poe stories and cocktail pairings. Not the usual thing we get in Charleston. Expect tickets to go pretty fast on this one.

#5 The 4848 Festival has dropped its lineup for 2025 at Snowshoe Mountain Resort July 17-19. This includes Lake Street Dive, Greensky Bluegrass, Dark Star Orchestra and more.
Tickets go on sale Friday 1/24.
#6 The Nelsonville Music Festival is scheduled for June 20 through June 22 in Nelsonville, Ohio.
Early Bird passes are on sale now. The festival lineup is typically very good, but the headliners can vary by genre a bit.
The show is run through Stuart’s Opera House, which also has several interesting upcoming shows including Tommy Castro and the Painkillers, Hayes Carll and Corb Lund and Rodney Crowell.
Incidentally, I play all those acts on Lost Highways. It’s a real radio show. I have stickers and everything.
